We use modifier 79 for debridements following FESS surgery where septo/turb surgery was also done as septo/turb surgery has a 90 day global and the debridement is being done for the FESS. But when just septo/turb surgery is performed which has a 90 day global and the patient returns within the global postop period for debridement does anyone use modifier 58 to get paid for this debridement or would this postop debridement be included in the postop care of septo/turb surgery. We have a disagreement on this in our office.
