Good morning,
I have a question regarding global periods when modifier 58 is used. If there is a patient that is within a 90 day global period but then has a staged procedure that has 58 modifier and 0 global days, do you still keep that 90 day global period? Or would you start billing the subsequent visits?

Example:
The first procedure was done on 10/24 – global period of 90days
Second procedure (staged) billed with modifier 58 on 11/22 – global period of 0

Most resources state that a new global period begins with staged procedure 58 modifier, however, I don't necessarily agree with this rule. (see below links).

Any feedback is appreciated!
