The provider ordered 2 separate lab panels. Within both of those panels an ANA Antibody has resulted, CPT 86038. Therefore, we will charge 86038 x2, which exceeds MUE. Both specimens for both panels is blood collected at the same time during the same session. Which is the most appropriate modifier?
We are diving deeper into whether or not the provider truly needs both panels resulted, but for this question let's say both lab test panels are medically necessary per the provider.
