Can anyone share their expertise?! I have a patient we saw in the hospital where on the same day we did multiple things. We have an admit (99223), dialysis (90935), US guidance Line (76937) and a tunnel cath placement (36561). I have it as followes:
99223 25
90935
76937 26
36561 58

Is the modifier 58 correct? I am so confused between the 51 and 58. Anyone have an opinion? Thanks!

Modifier 58 is used when reporting procedures performed during the post operative (or global) period. The CPT code to which you have it appended would indicate that the physician performed some procedure on a date of service prior to the catheter insertion. Is this a correct assumption?

Can you share more about the context of the codes selected? Thanks.

All of this was done on the same day. Maybe then i would use 51 for multiple procedures. If we did the cath placement during the global period, like 3 days later then I would use a 58 huh? Thanks for your help, I have really confused myself!
