Hello All,

I have an odd question. I spoke with an ins today and they said i need to have a modifier on the injection code 96372 when the patient brings their meds. Is that true? If yes then what is the modifier I would need to use?
I'm a little confused because I thought it was good enough to just put on the claim "patient brought own meds". Is that good enough anymore?

Thanks :)

I am not aware of any modifier to put on 96372 to indicate the patient supplied the medication. I do know some carriers will not pay 96372 without a J code. If that is the situation here, you would bill the appropriate J code with ZERO charge. If your system will not accept zero or bill it out with zero, it is acceptable to use $.01. My guess is that is what they really require, but did not properly instruct you.
