Hi all,
Complete newbie here, still taking the CPC H course. For one of the chapter exercises, you're asked to code appendectomy performed by a resident under the guidance of a teaching physician. Which modifier would come first- GC or AA? I'm assuming, from reading other threads, that it's GC first because that has the biggest influence on cost and seems like the most generalized impacting factor, but how would I go about figuring this out more reliably and in a way that I could apply to future cases?
Thanks!

The AA is a statistical modifier and should be listed first. The GC is a statistical/information modifier and should be listed 2nd.

I use this article attached below to make things simpler for me.

Thanks so much. I'm still not clear though on what conceptually makes one a statistical modifier and one informational.

Also, I'm starting to get worried. Are professional coders expected to remember all of these on-the-fly when they work?
