We have a patient that had a mastectomy 4 weeks ago (90 day global)
she comes into office today with a wound on her hip and has an a debridement so we used 24 on the ov and 79 on the debridement code (10 day global)

the doctor admits the patient the next day and takes the patient to the OR to do a more extensive debridement on the same wound.

I know that we would not be able to bill for the hospital E/M and we would need to add the either the 58 or 78 to the more extensive debridement (according to documentation)

but since it is still in the 90 day global of the mastectomy do we need to add modifier for that ? or did the global reset with the debridement in the office?

any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.,
Janet

I am following because I would like to hear the answer to this, but I would think your mastectomy global does not reset because the debridement is not a related issue to that procedure.
