Hi. I have been posting our Cardiac Pet Scans with 78431,26 as I post for the professional component. Lately I was getting denials about the modifiers.

After some research I found these new modifiers PI for Initial care, Ps for Recurring care, and MH for unknown status of care.

I tried adding these to my claims and they are still getting denied. Does anyone else post these types of charges and if so What am I missing?
 
Hi - This can be payer-specific. Does the payer have a policy? You also may have luck looking in the cardiology forum.

PI and PS are for oncologic scans. MH is related to the clinical decision support mechanism program.
