I am wondering if there is a BMI of over 40 or over 35 with co-mobidities, must it be coded every visit? I know it only needs to be captured one time per year for HCC Risk Adjustment purposes, but we are wondering if our doctors should code it every time the patient is seen?
Thanks!

If you coded obesity, the chapter coding guidelines state that you must code the BMI each time obesity is coded. There are 2 types of obesity: those for adults with values in a ranged by BMI value and those for pediatric patients ranged by percentile.there is no code for BMI with <causal condition>
