Wiki MRI orders

I have been trying to require my docs to have signed written orders for MRI's, they also want "standing order" for orbit x ray if required prior to MR

I am reading in the Medicare Benefit Policy Manual Chapt 15 sect 80.6 which states:

"no signature is required on order for clinical diagnostic tests paid on the basis of the clinical labroatory fee sched, the physician fee sched, or physician path services"

This has confused me...do I need a signed order for an MRI or not? Do I need an additional signed order for the orbit?

Are you even allowed to have "standing orders" for x rays?

Please help, I am not compliance officer...but I though you were required to have signed order for MRI?
