I wanted to double check to see if i coded this correctly patient culture came back positive for MRSA so that dx 041.12 patient has 2 abscess 1st one is on his chin dx 682.0 and other one is on the upper thigh 682.6 - I made the 041.12 primary dx is that correct? thank you melissa
 
Melissa, if the patient came in originally for the abscesses, that's what you code first. It was only after the culture came back that is was dx MRSA.
