Scenario: Commercial insurance is primary and Medicare is the secondary payer. G0439-annual wellness visit-is billed to commercial carrier and is denied as CO11-diagnoisis inconsistent with procedure. In other words, this payer does not recognize this Medicare code. Since it is denied as a contractual adjustment, I cannot bill it to Medicare-which is a covered service. I called Medicare and was told to bill the primary carrier with a "wellness" code, not a preventive code. Any suggestions?
