I have a pt that was in IP acute and seen by my physician for d/c to IP hospice. The same physician saw the pt that day for admit to hospice and again later that day for the death note. Can my physician bill 2 separate E&M's showing the 2 different POS?
 
One Billable Visit Per Day

Each physician/specialty within the same group can only bill one E/M per patient per day. Per CMS: "Contractors pay a physician for only one hospital visit per day for the same patient, whether the problems seen during the encounters are related or not" regardless of the site of service. (30.6.9.B)
