Can anyone tell me if there is a rule somewhere about billing multiple E/M units (99231) to Medicare for a span of 6 days or so? I billed 99231 x 6 for dates 04/02/2012 thru 04/07/2012 and someone is trying to tell me that it will get denied? I can not find anything helpful online so I thought I would come here. Thanks in advance!

Based on the info you provided here, I don't see anything wrong with billing multiple units on the same line. Generally, if the same provider performs the same level of service on X consecutive days, this is the appropriate way to bill. We do this here in my clinic. As long as you have the "thru" date, you should be fine.

If you get denials, post here with more info for more help.

Hope this helps! :)
