I know I read a discussion about this on here before, but now I cannot find it. I billed for 11102, 11103 and 11403 with an intermediate repair 12032. All documentation was there but it being denied. I applied modifier 59 to 11102, and 11103, but do I need to apply 59 to the intermediate repair? Could someone help with how to bill and explain a little bit? Still fairly new to dermatology so when these things come up, I am unsure. Thanks!

Per dermcoder, the 12032, 11102 and 11103 need 59 modifier. So the original excision does not, but additional procedures require 59 modifier.

If new to dermatology, I highly recommend dermcoder for help double checking when you have questions. Our practice pays for a license for us and it costs about $500 a year but is very helpful and specific to dermatology. When I first started, I used codify but was not as specific.
