patient has tib/fib ORIF by doc A, 9 days later has closed hip dislocation done in ER by doc B who refers to doc C, our joint doc for possible hip revision. He sees him 8 days later and does a 45 min level 4 E/M and is scheduled for a hip revision next month. What modifiers can I use, all these docs are in one practice, all within global periods of each other? HELP, I am a new coder.
 
In the December 2010 edition of Coding Edge magazine there is an excellent article regarding modifiers titled, "Distinguish Modifier 78 from Modifiers 58 and 79". I think this might be a good place for you to look for your answer. Good Luck. :)
