We recently lost 2 OB/GYNs at our practice and are now sharing call with another provider group. Besides breaking apart the global for billing, should we be using the -54 surgical care only, -55 postoperative management only, and/or -56 preoperative management only modifiers as appropriate?
Example: Patient sees provider from Practice A for prenatal care. She is admitted to the hospital in active labor by the on-call provider from Practice B. Patient delivers with Practice A provider later in the day. Practice B provider completes the admission H&P and several OB checks throughout the day. Practice A provides all postpartum care in hospital through 6 weeks.
How would you code this??? Thanks.
