We are getting denials from medicare for the "administration codes" for patients coming in getting Flu/Pneumonia/Zostavax inj's, or other "third" shot. We are using the G0008-flu,,G0009-pneumonia, than we use 90472 for the third shot. We had been told before from medicare to use the 90472 since the G0008 or G0009 were considered the "first injection codes" and 90472 was for shots after the "first" shot. Now we are not sure how to bill the administration of Flu/Pneumonia shots with another shot.
