National conference hotels in Vegas

I live in Vegas. The conference is at Bally's --- there are several hotels nearby including Paris, Cromwell, Ceasars, Bellagio and the Westin. All are within walking distance (across the street from Bally's). I saw today that AAPC is working with Bally's and with Paris.

I am curious...when does AAPC usually open the registration in the fall? I need to submit a complete cost ticket to my employer to pay for it. Do they always offer early-bird discounts?
Thanks!

Conferences

I am new to AAPC as I recently passed my exam and I am now a CPC-A!! I am very curious about these Regional and National Conferences. Can anyone who is registered with AAPC attend these conferences on their own or is it more that employers send their employees to the conferences? I am eager to learn more about coding and being a member of AAPC and meet new people in the process. Any advice anyone has for me would be great!
Thank you,
Kristine

Some employers do pay for their employees to go but I have found that most pay for it themselves. Also, some chapters have fund raisers throughout the year and they help to pay for some of their active members to attend.

Registration is Open

Looks like registration is now open. Still no event info quite yet. *This is me squealing in excitement* It will be my first conference! :D

Good morning everyone!

I am considering attending the Las Vegas Conference (love LV!) coming all the way from Southeast Florida (expensive airfare). I'm hoping my employer might contribute but not likely.

I was looking for hotels that are really close to Bally's and think The Flamingo and Best Western are fairly nearby to walk it and about half the price of Ballys.

Can someone confirm how reasonable this walking back and forth would be? So far I am travelling solo so trying to save a little. After all, there are shows to see and casinos to visit too. :)

Thanks for any info!

The flamingo is super close as well as Harrah's. The Flamingo & Harrah's, would be the closet in regards to walking distance. I believe Harrah's and Bally's and Paris are sister companies and may provide complimentary shuttle service between the properties.

Thanks! Hadn't thought of Harrah's. Will look into that one.

I've been doing some online research since i wrote my previous post and, by the time you add taxes and resort fees, Flamingo comes out to about the same as the Ballys conference rate w/out the resort fee. I wonder how the rooms/hotel is. The reviews I read are so varied... from the best to the worst.

Thanks for answering! :)

The Westin is across the street from Bally's, approximately 2 blocks from the strip. I have stayed at Bally's and Paris, and they are both nice, with Paris winning by a slight margin. Do some research before assuming that the conference rate is the lowest rate available at Bally's and Paris. A lot of times, you can find a good airfare/hotel combination rate that saves quite a bit of money. Bally's and Paris are connected by an interior corridor which is nice during hot weather.

I have spent quite a few hours searching through all the travel websites with and without promos, etc. There are so many different rates out there, it's mindboggling. I'm going to end up booking the hotel through the AA website and get some miles. :)

Vegas Conference

VPCats,

You mentioned you are coming from SE Florida, where in Florida are you located? I am planning on going to conference and live in SE Florida. I am in Port St Lucie, Fl. and there should be several of us going to conference.

Hi Monika. I am in Miami. I have a friend who lives in Washington State and when I told her I was planning a trip to Las Vegas, she jumped on it, as she has never been there. We'll be sharing the room and then do the town at night. She'll sleep at the pool during the day while I'm at conference. I'm trying to figure out if I'll sleep through the Anatomy session or the General sessions. LOLLLLL. J/K. Coffee!!!

Thanks for your note. Hopefully we'll all meet at the conference.

The conference is being held at Bally's and also there are accommodations at the Paris Hotel as well. I called the AAPC and spoke to the Conference Department. They were very helpful and until January 5th, they are actually doing in-house payment plans for conference. Until January 5, the fee for the conference and the hotel is $795.00. Awesome deal if you ask me :)

Hope this helps you

LV Conference

Vivian,

That sounds like a plan. We have several members from our chapter that attend conference. If we have sessions together we always sit together. After conference we meet for dinner.

Hope to meet you in Vegas.

National Conference

Amy,

Are you sure about the $795 including conference and hotel? I thought the $795 was just for conference and hotel was another fee.

Shared Hotel Room Packages

  • Bally's:
    Non-member: $1297
    Member: $997
  • Paris:
    Non-member: $1345
    Member: $1045
The registration alone is $795, the rooms are additional....but this is a great deal (from the Conference page) for members.

Agenda

I know this is scheduled for 3/29 - 4/1, but is it all day on the first and last days? I'm wondering if I can travel on the morning of the 29th and the afternoon of the 1st, or would it be best to plan on 3/28 and 4/2 as my travel dates? (I'm driving - I believe it's about 6 1/2 hours)

I was wondering the same thing. At this point though, since the agenda is not finalized, I'm looking at flights leaving mid afternoon on April 1st. I will be flying in early on the front end, on the 28th. UNLESS (there's always a "but" right?) :) I may, just may, do the ICD 10-CM pre-conference. Then I think I will need to fly in on the 26th. I think that program is a full two days??

So this is like think before you speak.........I should look before I type! :)

It looks like the agenda is almost there now. Session on April 1st all end at noon so my plans for departing flight should be ok. The pre-conference ICD 10 is 2 full days - 27th and 28th. There are some other sessions that don't quite have the right dates but I'm sure that will be corrected soon enough.

Adding the pre-conference course fee and extra hotel nights are going to make this a little bitty expensive for me but I get to accomplish many things at once. :)

Anyone planning on any of the pre-conference courses?
