I use this code to bill for PPD skin tests and the follow up read, 72 hours later. Does this code include the reading of the test, or no? I was always told that it included the reading because that is part of the testing process. So, I have never billed an E/M for the reading, for that reason. I'm wondering if it is a correct coding practice to bill an E/M for the reading of the test.

I welcome any insights anyone has to offer!

In my experience in the pediatric business, the followup was part of the visit and the testing...typically the patient would pop in, show the site and leave. No second visit, no E&M. Occasionally the patient would have some other illness and would be seen for that.
