Please help! If a pt. is admitted to the hospital during
post op global period (Hernia repair) with an abdominal
abscess. I cannot bill the admit as it is a Post op complication. Correct?

CMS vs other payers

CMS will not accept ANY E/M service, including readmission, for complications of surgery.

Other payers, however, do accept the mod 24 for E/M services that are above the usual routine postoperative care - i.e. complications, such as infection.
