We need some help with a CPT code. The surgery is from 2008, and a coworker received a denial from an ins company and we are trying to figure out if an asst is billable on this specific cpt code. The CPT: 49250. We were assisting on this surgery bc we are Urology. BCBS said this cpt code is not billable for an assisting. We do not have an expert edition of a CPT code book from 2008. Didnt know if anyone could help us??:confused:

I have a 2008 CPT book, BCBS is correct, this code was not billable for an assistant surgeon in 2008, it is still not billable. You can also check this link

click on assistant surgery guide and it will give you a list of codes that allow assitant surgeons.
