Did your Doctor refer a patient out for a mammogram, or was the patient referred to you for a mammogram?

Preventive screening or diagnostic?
First you cannot code for simply writing the script / putting in the order for a patient to have a mammogram.
You will code for whatever type and level of visit is documented - preventive, or sick visit - new or established.
If this is purely screening, then you are looking for a V-code (probably V70)
If this is diagnostic, you will want to code the symptoms that brought the patient to you.
