What is the difference between Diabetic Nephropathy and CKD ? when provider mention both in the record than as per my opinion CKD is more accurate diagnosis than nephropathy.
What you are thinking, please explain.
 
Code both per documentation.
When we code CKD with DM that is stating two Chronic conditions
Where as the nephropathy code states that it's due to DM.
Diabetic nephropathy is a long-term kidney disease that can affect people with diabetes. It occurs when high blood glucose levels damage how a person's kidneys function. Diabetic nephropathy is a kind of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
