Here is the scenario. Patient is having a bilateral total knee replacement, left knee done on one day and a couple days later they are replacing the right knee. The patient is still under daily management for the left knee and they do another femoral nerve block for the right. My question is can you bill for the placement of the nerve block for the right knee along with the daily management for the left on the same day??
 
I assume the daily management is under a 9923X code since 01996 is reserved for management of a epidural infusion. I believe if the anesthesia is also provided on this day then a follow up inpatient visit would not be separately payable on the same day.
