Can an ASC code & bill for nerve blocks performed during orthopedic surgeries? For example 64415-TC. Any specific articles, documentation, etc. would be appreciated. A simple "no, you can't bill for that" will not be accepted by the board. :)
Thanks!

There was a really good article in last months aapc coding magazine. I bill for an ASC in NJ and I took it directly to our medical director as we do bill for them as a post operative pain control which we not on the op report. Our Med Dir says as long as the doc asks the anesthesiologist to do the pain block and its done post operative it is acceptable to code as a separate proc with a 59 mod. we do bill and we do get paid. Hope this helps.
