I just got an email from one of our neuro doc's wanting to know what percentage of his practice has to be neuro before he can bill new pt visits for a patient that has already been seen by one of our general ortho surgeons. His taxonomy is set up as neuro, but most of his practice is spine/ortho. I cannot find the answer anywhere.
Any help would be great!
thanks :)

Thank you for the response!
That's what we originally thought but Medicare has been denying these. I even called medicare and I don't think that they were listening to what I was saying because they just told me that I need to call provider enrollment and change his specialty.

It is possible that you have him enrolled as both ortho and neuro, and that is all it takes for this kind of denial, bill it established if that is the case.
