I have a patient that has a ventricular-peritoneal shunt that has malfunctioned. The physician replaced the right sided ventricular catheter through a burr hole and inserted a new left lateral ventricular catheter. The physican is telling me to bill 62225 bilaterally. However, this code does not allow bilateral. It is also for a replacment or irrigation. Any thoughts on using 62225 and 61210? It is through the same burr hole site.
