Neoplasm section lists malignant lesion of the jaw as 173.30, but states "see
also Neoplasm, face). Basal cell carcinoma of the face is 173.31. Tabular list
173.30 states "unspecified malignant neoplasm....", but I know it's a basal cell,
however, jaw is a more specific location. Looking for feedback on how others
are reading this.

Since you know it is Basal cell and it is on a specified part of the face, I think you are correct in using 173.31. What you find in the specifics for the code in the tabular should take you to the most accurate code.
