Patient comes in to see the nurse practioner for a new pt. ob, had an u/s that revealed a missed abortion. Patient then sees the Dr. to discuss D&C on same day. How would that be billed? Thanks

If you are asking about the visit, then you would need to bill this as an NP visit since you may not bill a new patient as a shared encounter. Or you can evaluate the visit based only on the physician note, however this is a new patient and all three components of the visit must be met. You will need a complete encounter from either provider but only one can be billed and they cannot be combined for a new patient.
