hello

I just wanted to clarify that if a practitioner is of the same group specialty as the physician who initially admitted the patient for observation and is providing the subsequent observation care (same group specialty, 2 different physicians), if that physician for the subsequent care has to charge office outpatient visits or subsequent obsv. codes?

Providers of the same group and specialty are, for coding purposes, always treated as if they were the same provider. So if your provider admits the patient to observation status and is billing for observation, then the covering provider on the subsequent days is also going to be using observation codes.
