We are an orthopedic medical group consists 11 doctors under one Tax ID but each doctor has his own NPI. All doctors are under the same specialty before 10/2016. Dr A changed his primary specialty to Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery Secondary specialty after 10/01/2016.
Patient W has been seeing Dr B since 11/2015 (all doctors had the same specialty before 10/2016). Patient W came to see Dr A 09/2017, is this new patient visit or established patient?
Does it matter that Dr A used to have the same specialty as Dr B before 10/2016?
Really need an answer for this complicated question. Thanks a lot.
