I work for a behavioral health practice.

We have a patient who has been with us in therapy for a couple of months. It's been determined that they need to seek medication management in addition to the therapy being provided. Our LPC has referred the patient to one of our Psych NP's for medication management.

Should this patient be treated as "New" or "Existing" for the initial NP/med management appointment?

Thank you!

Hello,
I have another example.
Our practice is adding a new LPC provider.
If their existing patients start coming to our practice, will they be New Patients? because it is a new Practice.

Thank You

No, if the patients followed the provider they are established to the provider (unless greater than 3 years). It's not the practice, it's the person.
