Hi,

If the patient is new to the facility, then always Number of diagnosis and treatment options in MDM box A will always be either new problem additional workup done OR new problem no addition workup done. Is my assumption correct. Suggestions?

Thanks,
Shruthi

Not necessarily

Remember that the problem must be new to the PROVIDER - if the provider has seen the patient in another facility, it may not be new to the provider. Most of the time, yes, you would be correct, but it may not always be the case.

Sorry that is not always the case..If the pt comes in with a cold that would be considered Self limited to minor. Yes I know it is new to the provider but it is still Self limited problem. This part of MDM is always the hardest to clairfiy.
