When providing a new patient with a preventative exam and then also seeing that patient for an unrelated problem, is it appropriate to use a new or established patient E/M code during the same visit?

You will use the New pt preventive code and an established pt code for the additional E/M service. Once you have done the preventive exam they are no longer a new patient.
