Wiki New preg visit with 640.00

Hello,

There is some confussion about a pt that comes in for new pregnancy visit and the dr puts 640.00 as a Dx as well as v22.1. Can we still bill this as a new preg or would this be considered a complication and have to be changed to an OV??

Thank you for any help.
 
640.00 and V22.0

The 640.00 is a threatened abortion code and should not be used in conjunction with the code V22.1. If the pre-natal record has been initiated this would fall under an ob visit and billed out if the patient would have a miscarraige. If the pre-natal record has not been initiated you may bill it out as an office visit.
