Hello,

One of my physicians saw a patient who has a personal history of hematuria. The PCP referred the patient to us to assess in an office visit. The patient comes in and there is no evidence of hematuria on a UA and records from a few months prior to this visit showed negative for blood or protein. Apparently the patient had episodes of hematuria on random UA's in the past. My physician bills for hematuria 599.70, I disagree, what code should I be using???

Help please :(

Denise

You will need to use a Vcode if there is noting wrong with the patient. The dx is coded from the patient view scince it is their dx you are coding. SO a personal hx code perhaps.
