We have a patient who was seen back in 2009 for a Dr.'s visit. Patient then came in for a shot only visit in 2013, did not see Dr. at that time. Patient is now being seen in 2014 by the Dr. Do we bill visit as New Pt or Est pt?

Thanks for your help!

Generally a patient who has been seen for a face-to-face visit in the last three years is considered an established patient. Or if the patient has seen an affiliated provider in this manner. If there wasn't a face-to-face visit with a provider I would then bill a new patient code.
