I am new to OB and this may seem like a dumb question, but here goes anyway.

Patient is admitted into observation status due to pregnancy induced hypertension. The facility is billing out 99220 for the 1 day stay in observation status. Shouldn't the admitting ob physician also be able to bill out 99220 (provided the documentation supports that level of service)?

I just need to confirm my gut instinct that the admitting physician can bill out observation care even though the facility is billing the same cpt.

Thanks in advance for any help!!
