My doctors are stating that they are doing port flushes and maintenance and PICC line flushes and maintenance. I am unable to find a code for either of these procedures. Could somebody please let me know if these are billable and if so, where would I look to find the codes? Thanks.

96523 is a port flush, but this can only be billed if there are no other services the same day. So basically if the physician is seeing and billing an E&M visit the same day, the flush is not billable. We usually only bill for flushes for pump disconnects, or if the patient is coming in for a port flush only.
