New to Opthalmology and starting a new job coding opthalmology. Coded many eye cases in ASC such as Cataracts, Strabismus surgeries, pterygium excisions, but never coded for the physcian side. What am I getting myself into? Does the physcian side bill J codes, .do they also use hcpcs codes?.Is there a good web site to go to? Anything will help, send me anything, thanks

Hi - yes, they can bill J codes and HCPC codes as long as the office is supplying the item. If the doctor is seeing patients in a hospital setting then you'll want to talk to the department to see if they are billing on the facility side for them. Good luck!
