Greetings Everyone,

I had a question regarding work experience and certification. I currently have 3 yrs experience in billing HMO and PPO for a large Peds group and an additional 3 yrs auditing providers claims for several TPA's. I was laid off and have had no luck with my job search so far. I am taking the online courses in hopes that that will make a difference and open up new opportunities to me. So my question is, does the certification make a difference since not all employers require it? What are the advantages of having this certification?

Thank you :D

Tight job market

There are some employers who definitely require the certification. Even for those that don't, in a tight job market certification would give you an edge over a candidate with no certification.

A combination of certification with your experience should help lift your resume to the top of the pile.

Even if you get a job before you get the CPC, I'd keep going and get that certification.

Good luck!
