If a pt was seen in past 3 years only by a Medical Assistant to be given a tdap shot, is he new or established?
Our MD signed the procedure note and we billed under him, but he never actually saw pt. Thanks

So bill new pt for 2nd E & M (99203) since for 1st visit and vaccine pt didn't see MD? (vaccine only)
Thanks

CPT professional states that soley for the purposes of distinguishing between new/established patients, PROFESSIONAL SERVICES are those FACE-to-FACE services rendered by physicians or other qualified health care professionals who report e/m services.
