So Hello my fellow coders! This is a rewarding yet also difficult field we all chose to go into. :eek: LOL! Well Me and a coder at my job are at odds and I would like to ask anyone if they know where I can find documentation (without reading my entire coding books) or if someone can answer the following question: So how long is it between visits can a physician bill out a new patient code like (99202) vs. a established like (99212)? I believe it is 3 years, Am I crazy? :)
 
It's 3 years. Refer to the guidelines and a Decision Tree in the E/M section of the CPT book.
