Scenario: Rheumatologist joins an Orthorpaedic group. Would the patients already established at the ortho group be new or est to the rheumatologist that joins the practice? I have found information concerning how to bill the patients that follow the rheumatologist to the ortho group. But can't seem to find a clear explaination for patients already at the ortho group who then see the new rheumatologist. Any suggestions? She bills with the same TIN as the ortho group docs.

New

Different specialty equals new patient. If not seen by that specialty in that office, or that particular physician in any office for last 3 years the patient would be new to that physician.
