This is my first time using this site to ask a question. I want to know how to distinguish and old injury from a new injury? Is there anything or some special guidelines where it states the rules to determine old vs new. Example PT had a ACL tear a year ago but, never had surgery or treatment for his tear? Now his knee is bothering him once again and ortho doctor wants to do surgery on the pt. Oththo dx ACL tear to knee. I guess my question is where can I find information on what determines if a week, month or year is considered an old injury. Because, the dx will be totally different from new to old. Can someone please help me determine if there is a time frame for injuries. The ICD 10 dx book isn't really making it clear for me
