How do I bill for a newborn, born on 7/04/10 at Hospital A via c-section, who was then transferred to a specialty hospital (hospital B)the same day due to testicular torsion for possible surgery. Do I simply bill 99460 or 99463 or
99221-23 since he was not a "normal" newborn?

The same baby was then transferred back to Hospital A on 7/05/10 and discharged on 7/06/10, how do I report those charges? Do I do a pediatric admission and then discharge? Or bill follow-up and discharge?

The hospital is reporting it as 2 separate admissions.

Lpn

I'm am just beginning a coding program, but as an LPN, the facility I work for bills as separate admissions if a patient is out of the facitlity for 24 plus hours.
