Would this be considered Inpatient? Newborn with complications, sent out to higher care? HELP!

Wiki Newborn - Same Day discharge???

Are you saying the baby is trensferred from Nursery to NICU?
If so, it is inpatient. Newborn status is always inpatient. But for the same day discharge I disagree. It should only be 99460 Newborn Care Initial Day. No discharge, baby did not go home just to another unit at the same hospital. I hope this helps, and I hope that I understood your question right.

newborn - transferred to outside facility
this was coded as an inpatient but the newborn was transferred to another hospital; higher level of care.
