Wiki Newborn specialty visit / POS

I need to code a specialty consult visit for a 1 day old Newborn. The patient status in the hospital facility is labeled as Newborn. Would I code this as Inpatient and use the date of birth as the admission date, or Outpatient since there is no technical "admission"? Or do you use what the mother's chart states? Thanks!

All newborn admissions are inpatient. Admission date is DOB. The kid will have his/her own chart.

Thank you! Haven't done much newborn, in Ortho it seems to be most elderly and middle aged.
