I do inpatient consult coding and we do a lot of NJFT placements for people who are intubated, or are seriously injured. The providers usually use code 269.9 malnutrition as the reason for the procedure. Is there a better code to use, like mulitple injuries or trauma or patient intubated as a reason for the feeding tube placement? Thank you for your help!!
